HMNTY Privacy Policy

HMNTY is operated by Vine Street Ventures LLC d/b/a HMNTY, PO Box 56, Glenwood, IA 51534. This policy covers the HMNTY app and the hmnty.app website.

What We Collect

When you use HMNTY, we collect:

• Account info — name, email address (from email signup, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In), and your date of birth (or, on older accounts, birth year), which you provide at signup so we can verify you are 18 or older
• Profile info — display name, photos, bio, city, hobbies and interests you select
• Optional profile details — gender and lifestyle preferences, if you choose to provide them
• Social media handles — Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, or YouTube handles, if you choose to add them
• Location data — your approximate location to show nearby activities (only when you grant permission)
• Activity data — events you create, join, RSVP to, check in to, or interact with, and profiles you view
• Messages — chat messages within activities and direct messages
• Photos & media — photos you upload to your profile, activities, or live moments
• Device info — push notification tokens to send you alerts
• Verification data — if you choose to verify your account: your phone number (phone verification), or photos of your government ID and a selfie plus the name on your ID (identity verification). Verification photos are visible only to you and our review team, and are permanently deleted when you delete your account.
• Payment data — payments are processed by Stripe (tickets, sponsorships, host payouts) or by Apple or Google (memberships and in-app purchases). We never receive or store your card number. We store account references (such as your Stripe customer ID), your membership status, and a record of each transaction: the amount, any service fee, what it was for, the Stripe payment reference, and any refund or dispute.
• Safety preferences — your blocked-users and muted lists (stored privately so we can filter your experience; never visible to other users)
• Calendar (optional) — if you grant calendar permission, we add activities you choose to your device calendar. We only write the events you tap to add; we never read your existing calendar entries and no calendar data is uploaded to our servers.

What Other Users Can See

• Your profile shows your display name, profile photo and photo gallery, city and state, bio, interests and hobby progress, badges (such as verification, host, Founding Partner, Ambassador and Pro badges), follower count, your stats (events hosted and joined, host rating, streak), events you have hosted (with their venue and address), and reviews of you as a host. Business and creator accounts can also show a business location on a map.
• Birthday, age and gender. The app does not show your birthday, birth year, age, gender or lifestyle details on your profile or anywhere else. However, on some older accounts these details are still saved in the profile record the app loads when other signed-in users view your profile, so someone using technical tools could read them. We are moving them to private storage. If you want them removed from your profile record now, email support@hmnty.app. If a host limits an event by age or gender, we use these details to decide whether you can see it.
• Social media handles are saved in your profile record, which other signed-in users' apps can read, so treat them as public.
• Events you go to. An event's "going" list shows the names and profile photos of people who RSVP'd or bought tickets, to anyone who can open the event. Public event chats can be read by any signed-in user.
• Profile views. When you open someone's profile, we record it. Members on plans that include "see who viewed your profile" can see your name and photo.
• Nearby People (only if you turn it on) shows your name, photo, city, shared hobbies and an approximate distance. You can turn off "Show me as active" in Settings to stay out of the "People Active" feed.
• Other users never see your email address, phone number, exact location (GPS coordinates), card details, or who you have blocked.

What Event Hosts Can See

When you buy a ticket or RSVP, we share information with that event's host so they can run the event. Hosts must use it only for that purpose.

• RSVPs: your display name, profile photo and HMNTY user ID.
• Tickets: your display name and HMNTY user ID; the ticket type, ticket number and number of guests; the price you paid, including any service fee; the ticket's status (active, checked in, refunded, cancelled, or disputed, with the bank's dispute reason code) and check-in time; and the Stripe payment reference for your purchase.
• Attendee exports: hosts on some plans can download a list of attendees with name, city and HMNTY user ID.
• Door staff the host adds see your name, ticket type, ticket number, number of guests, and whether the ticket was refunded or disputed.
• Announcements: hosts on some plans can send in-app and push announcements to past attendees. You can opt out or mute a host.
• Hosts never see your card number, email address or phone number through HMNTY.

If You Host

• To pay you, Stripe collects your identity, business and bank details directly during payout setup. We receive your Stripe account status and payout records from Stripe.
• We keep records of your ticket sales, fees, refunds, chargebacks and payouts, and tax forms (such as Form 1099-K) may be filed where the law requires.

How We Use It

• Show you activities and people near you
• Decide which events you can see when a host limits an event by age or gender
• Enable social features (friends, chat, live moments)
• Process tickets, refunds and host payouts
• Send push notifications about events and friend activity
• Improve the app experience
• Keep the community safe — uploaded photos and messages are automatically screened for content that violates our Community Guidelines, and identity-verification photos are checked for a match
• Diagnose crashes and errors — when something breaks, a technical error report (which may include your account ID and display name, but never your messages or photos) helps us fix it

What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your personal data to third parties
• We don't use your data for targeted advertising
• We don't put Meta (Facebook/Instagram) or TikTok tracking pixels or software in the app or on our website. We do advertise on those platforms.
• We don't share your precise location (GPS coordinates) with other users. Other users only ever see your city and an approximate distance — never your exact latitude/longitude.

Our Website

• Google Analytics. Most pages on hmnty.app use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure visits (pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, device and browser). You can block it with your browser's cookie settings or Google's opt-out add-on.
• Forms. If you join a waitlist we store your email and city. If you RSVP on a web page we store your email and send you a confirmation. If you sign up for our newsletter, beehiiv stores your email.
• Fonts. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.
• Web checkout. Ticket checkout on the web uses Stripe.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, file storage
• Apple — Apple Sign-In, App Store purchases, Apple Wallet passes
• Google — Google Sign-In, Google Play purchases, Google Wallet passes, Google Analytics on our website, Google Fonts
• Stripe — payment processing for tickets, sponsorships, and host payouts. When you buy a ticket, Stripe receives your payment details directly, and we give Stripe your email and display name to create your customer record. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Anthropic — automated content safety screening of uploaded photos and chat messages, identity verification (matching your selfie to your ID and reading the name on your ID), and generating in-app suggestions (such as conversation starters, and re-engagement notifications that use your display name, top hobby and city). Anthropic processes this content on our behalf and does not use it to train its models.
• Sentry — crash and error reporting (technical error details and, where relevant, your account ID and display name; never message or photo content)
• Expo — push notification delivery and app updates
• Twilio — one-time SMS codes if you verify your phone number
• Namecheap Private Email — sending our emails, such as web RSVP confirmations
• beehiiv — our email newsletter, if you subscribe
• Ticketmaster — public event listings shown in the app (we display events sourced from the Ticketmaster Partner API; we do not share your personal data with Ticketmaster)
• External booking links — some events link to a third-party site to buy tickets or book. We may add an affiliate tracking code to that link so HMNTY can earn a commission; the code does not contain your name, email, or any other personal data. Once you leave the app, the third party's privacy policy applies.

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete your account at any time from Settings (see below for what we keep)
• Revoke location permissions in your device settings
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children

HMNTY is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
