HMNTY Privacy Policy

What We Collect

When you use HMNTY, we collect:

• Account info — name, email address (from email signup or Apple Sign-In), birth year (for 18+ age verification; we do not collect full date of birth)
• Profile info — photos, bio, hobbies you select
• Location data — your approximate location to show nearby activities (only when you grant permission)
• Activity data — events you create, join, or interact with
• Messages — chat messages within activities and direct messages
• Photos & media — photos you upload to your profile, activities, or live moments
• Device info — push notification tokens to send you alerts
• Optional profile details — gender and lifestyle preferences, if you choose to provide them (stored privately; never shown to other users)
• Social media handles — Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, or YouTube handles, if you choose to add them (these appear on your public profile)
• Verification data — if you choose to verify your account: your phone number (phone verification), or photos of your government ID and a selfie plus the name on your ID (identity verification). Verification photos are visible only to you and our review team, and are permanently deleted when you delete your account.
• Payment data — if you purchase a subscription or paid ticket, payment is processed by Stripe or Apple; we store only account references (such as a Stripe customer ID) and subscription status — never your card number
• Safety preferences — your blocked-users and muted lists (stored privately so we can filter your experience; never visible to other users)

How We Use It

• Show you activities and people near you
• Enable social features (friends, chat, live moments)
• Send push notifications about events and friend activity
• Improve the app experience

What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your personal data to third parties
• We don't use your data for targeted advertising
• We don't share your precise location (GPS coordinates) with other users. Other users only ever see your city and an approximate distance — never your exact latitude/longitude.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, file storage
• Apple — Apple Sign-In authentication
• Expo — push notification delivery
• Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions, tickets, and host payouts (Stripe receives payment details directly; see Stripe's privacy policy)
• Twilio — one-time SMS codes if you verify your phone number
• Ticketmaster — public event listings shown in the app (we display events sourced from the Ticketmaster Partner API; we do not share your personal data with Ticketmaster)

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings
• Revoke location permissions in your device settings
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children

HMNTY is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
