Where to Play Pickup Soccer in Omaha

These are the spots where people actually show up. Not a list we pulled from Google Maps — places where games happen.

Grass

Tranquility Park

1st & Bancroft St — South Omaha
The most consistent pickup spot in town. Flat grass fields with enough room for full-sided games. Most action happens on weekday evenings — people start rolling in around 5:30 and play until the light goes. The south side of the park is where everyone sets up. If you've never gone, just bring a ball and water. Someone will wave you over.

Grass

Zorinsky Lake Park

156th & F St — West Omaha
Big open fields on the west side of the park, away from the trail walkers. Weekend mornings are your best bet here — Saturday and Sunday around 9 or 10 AM. Games tend to be a bit more relaxed, mixed skill levels, sometimes 5v5 sometimes 7v7 depending on who shows. Plenty of parking off 156th.
Outdoor
Turf

Hefflinger Park

4707 S 91st St — Ralston
Turf fields that don't turn to mud after rain. The lights stay on until 10 or 11, so you can get a game in after work even in fall. Technically Ralston, but everyone just says "Heff." Weeknight games happen here when Tranquility is too crowded or too wet. Solid option if you want a faster surface.

Grass

Walnut Grove Park

148th & Pacific — West Omaha
Quieter suburban spot that gets more pickup action than you'd expect. Good for families and people who don't want to drive to Tranquility. The field behind the playground is where games set up. Weekend afternoons are the move here. Bring your kids — there's usually a mix of ages.
Outdoor
Indoor

Omaha Indoor Soccer

168th & Center — West Omaha
When it's January and 15 degrees out, this is where you go. Indoor leagues run year-round, and they have open play sessions that are basically organized pickup. Walls keep the ball in, so the pace is relentless. Good way to stay sharp through the winter. Check their schedule for open play times — they change seasonally.

When Do People Play?

The hardest part of pickup soccer isn't finding a field. It's knowing if anyone will actually be there when you show up.

Weekday Evenings

Most games start after 5:30 PM when people get off work. Tranquility and Hefflinger are your best bets on weeknights. Games go until dark — or until the lights cut out at Heff.

Weekend Mornings

Saturday and Sunday mornings, usually 9–11 AM. Zorinsky and Walnut Grove pick up on weekends. More casual vibe, more families, more space.

Spring Through Fall

Outdoor pickup runs roughly April through October. Peak season is June through August when the evenings are long. September is still solid — October gets spotty.

Indoor Year-Round

Omaha Indoor Soccer runs open play all winter. No more "is it too cold?" — just show up. The surface is fast and the games are physical. Good cardio on a Tuesday night.

The real problem with pickup soccer in Omaha isn't a lack of fields — it's not knowing whether anyone is actually going to show up on a given day. HMNTY fixes that. People post games in real time so you can see who's playing, where, and when before you drive across town for nothing.
