Pickup Basketball in Omaha

You know the drill. You drive 20 minutes to a court, and it's empty. Or it's full of 14-year-olds running iso ball. HMNTY shows you where real runs are happening right now so you stop wasting your evenings.

Best Courts for Pickup Basketball in Omaha

Not every court in Omaha has runs. These are the ones where people actually show up.

🔥
Outdoor

Adams Park

3230 John A Creighton Blvd — North Omaha
This is the court in Omaha. If you want competitive pickup, Adams Park is where you prove it. The runs here are fast, physical, and nobody's calling soft fouls. North Omaha's been hooping here for decades — you'll find ex-college guys, high school stars, and grown men who still have it. Evenings and weekends are when it gets real. Bring your game or watch from the sideline.

Hanscom Park

3201 Woolworth Ave — Midtown
Midtown's go-to spot. The courts at Hanscom get good evening runs from spring through fall — a solid mix of regulars and randoms. The vibe is competitive but not hostile. Good place to get a game if you're somewhere between "I played in high school" and "I still think I could've played D2." Courts are decent, parking is easy, and you're five minutes from Blackstone if you want food after.

Hitchcock Park

6205 N 48th St — North Omaha
Underrated court that the after-work crowd keeps alive. Hitchcock has well-maintained rims and a smooth surface — no excuses when your jumper isn't falling. You'll get consistent 4-on-4 and 5-on-5 runs here on weekday evenings. The crowd skews a little older, which means more ball movement and fewer people trying to dunk on you. Usually.

UNO HPER Building

UNO Dodge Campus
If you're a UNO student or have a campus rec membership, the HPER Building open gym is one of the best-kept secrets in Omaha hoops. Full-size indoor courts, decent hours, and a mix of students and locals who actually know how to play. The runs here can get surprisingly competitive during the school year. Check open gym times — they change by semester.

Kroc Center

2825 Y St — South Omaha
The Kroc Center gym is legit. Full indoor court, well-maintained, climate-controlled — everything you want when it's January in Nebraska and outdoor hoops isn't happening. Membership required, but the runs are reliable year-round. You'll find a consistent group of regulars who play hard but keep it clean. This is where Omaha's pickup scene survives the winter.

Genesis Health Clubs

Multiple Omaha Locations
Genesis has courts at several locations around Omaha, and each one has its own little pickup scene. The quality of runs depends on the location and the time — ask at the front desk when the regulars play. Member-only, but if you're already paying for a gym membership, you might as well hoop. The Westroads and Village Pointe locations tend to have the most consistent games.

When Are the Best Runs?

Knowing where to play is half the battle. Knowing when is the other half.

🌅

Weekday Evenings

5 PM to 8 PM at outdoor courts is prime time, spring through fall. People get off work, grab their shoes, and head to the park. This is when Adams, Hanscom, and Hitchcock are most likely to have a run going. Show up around 5:30 and you'll usually find at least 6-8 guys shooting around, ready to run.

☀️

Weekend Mornings

Saturday and Sunday mornings are king. The serious hoopers come out early — 9 AM, 10 AM — before it gets too hot in the summer or before family obligations kick in. Weekend mornings at Adams Park are some of the best pickup basketball you'll find in the entire metro. Get there early or watch.

❄️

Winter (Indoor Season)

November through March, outdoor courts are done. That's when Kroc Center, Genesis, and UNO keep the scene alive. Indoor runs are more predictable — same guys, same times every week. If you don't have a gym membership by December, you're not hooping until April. HMNTY helps you find who's running where.

Stop guessing. HMNTY lets you check if people are actually playing at a court before you drive over. See who's heading where, when games are starting, and whether there are enough people for a real run.

How It Works

Never Show Up to an Empty Court Again

Three steps between you and a guaranteed run.

1

Post a game or check the map

Open HMNTY, see what's already on the map near you. If nothing's popping, post a game at your court — "Running 5s at Adams Park, 6 PM." It goes live on the map for everyone nearby.

2

See who's already heading to a court

Other players join your game or post their own. You can see exactly how many people are heading to each court before you leave the house. No more texting five group chats hoping someone's down.

3

Show up knowing you've got 5

Drive to the court with confidence. You already know there are enough people for a real game. No more pulling up to an empty court, shooting around alone for 20 minutes, and driving home.

🛡 Ambassador Badge — 500 Spots

The first 500 people who post a hangout or attend an event on HMNTY get a permanent Ambassador badge on their profile. Once the spots fill, this is gone forever.
