Most apps launch where the noise is. San Francisco. New York. LA. Markets where you can throw a launch party and ten reporters show up because they were already at the bar next door.

HMNTY is launching in Omaha. On purpose.

Here's why.

Omaha actually wants to know its neighbors

I've lived in cities where everyone is "busy." Where a casual coffee invite gets rescheduled three times and then quietly dropped. Where the assumption is that you already have your people, so reaching for new ones feels like trespassing.

Omaha isn't like that. People here will still say hi at the dog park. They'll still ask what brewery you ended up at. They'll still text you the day before to confirm the plan instead of ghosting at 6:58pm.

That's not a small thing. It's the substrate the whole app sits on. HMNTY only works if people show up when they say they will. Omaha has that muscle still intact.

The "scene" is real, it's just hidden

If you've only lived here a year or two, Omaha can feel like it's hiding from you. Where do the climbers go on Wednesdays? Who's running the Sunday morning loops at Standing Bear? Where's the open-mic that's actually fun? Which trivia night has the brutal questions?

It's all here. But it lives in group texts and word of mouth and Facebook groups your friend's older sister is in. The barrier isn't activity — it's a discovery layer that doesn't exist yet.

That's the app. That's the whole bet. Find things to do. Meet people who go.

Big enough to matter, small enough to listen

Omaha has roughly half a million people inside the city, almost a million across the metro. That's more than enough density to populate a calendar of real-world plans on any given Thursday. But it's small enough that you can actually meet the people running the run clubs, the trivia nights, the volunteer days, the live shows.

When we ship a broken thing in Omaha, we hear about it in 24 hours from someone who knows us by name. When we ship a good thing, the right people share it and we feel it in the signups the same week.

You can't get that feedback loop in a market of ten million strangers.

We don't want to be Meetup. We don't want to be the algorithm.

HMNTY is built around one idea: real plans with real people. Not endless scrolling. Not "engagement." Not a feed designed to keep you on your phone instead of out the door.

That's an easier promise to keep in a city where people still believe in showing up. Omaha is that city. So we're starting here, getting it right here, and then doing the next city only when this one is actually working.
